Specialist – Statutory Compliance

Orica is a global leader in mining and infrastructure solutions. We are currently looking for a Specialist – Statutory Compliance to join our team in Almaty and support our operations in Kazakhstan and the wider region, including the UAE and Bulgaria.
This role plays a key part in ensuring compliance with national legislation, industry standards and Orica’s internal requirements, enabling safe, efficient and sustainable operations. The position reports to the Senior Specialist Regulatory.
Key responsibilities:
• Monitor and interpret regulatory requirements and communicate updates to internal stakeholders
• Prepare, submit and track permits, licences, certificates, declarations and notifications
• Support regulatory assessments for new activities, operational changes and projects
• Maintain regulatory documentation and monitoring systems (e.g. Worldlex), ensuring audit readiness
• Support internal audits, inspections and engagement with regulatory authorities
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to embed compliance requirements into daily operations
Requirements:
• Higher education in Regulatory Affairs, Law, Environmental/Safety Management, Engineering or a related field
• Experience working with regulatory frameworks, preferably in Kazakhstan and/or multi‑country environments
• Background in regulated industries (mining, industrial, manufacturing or similar is an advantage)
• Experience with regulatory monitoring systems and compliance documentation
• Strong communication, organisational and analytical skills
• Ability to translate complex regulations into practical, business‑focused solutions
