The Test Lead is a key member of our Back Office Applications Development team and serves as the quality lead for our in-house Back Office system, the Merchant Management System (MMS). The system runs on a stable IBM i platform and is central to payment card transaction processing, clearing, ATM operations, and merchant settlement. The Test Lead is responsible for coordinating testing activities, defining the testing approach, and ensuring the overall quality of changes delivered across this critical system.
The role requires a highly analytical professional with an IT background and a solid understanding of the payments industry, particularly the payment card domain and transaction processing. Equally important are a strong willingness to learn, the ability to analyze complex issues, the capability to support and improve the system, and the readiness to lead testing efforts, set priorities, and drive quality standards within the team.
The Test Lead must be able to oversee testing of system changes in depth, coordinate communication with relevant stakeholders, guide the preparation of test cases, and support the development team in delivering high-quality solutions. The role also includes organizing and supervising testing activities, mentoring testers, and collaborating on testing initiatives with internal and external partners worldwide.
SPECIFIC TASKS AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing the testing of newly implemented functionality, as well as ensuring the timely identification of issues caused by new changes or upgrades to existing functionality.
Able to understand and assess a wide range of specifications, primarily from card associations such as Mastercard, Visa, and American Express, and translate them into a clear testing approach for the team.
Collaborates closely with developers, analysts, and other stakeholders to define test scope, priorities, and quality expectations for new solutions.
Leads the preparation and review of regression, performance, and other test scenarios based on requirements and analysis.
Owns the test case repository and is responsible for defining and improving the testing strategy, including the adoption of modern tools, test automation, and efficient testing practices.
Coordinates testing activities within certification processes across all card associations and ensures readiness for required certifications.
Provides leadership and support for integration testing with customers and partners, ensuring alignment on test scope, execution, and issue resolution.
Maintains close cooperation with other teams within GPE and globally, and drives alignment on testing standards, risks, and quality objectives.
Acts as a team player and mentor who fosters knowledge sharing, collaboration, and continuous improvement across the testing area.
REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POSITION:
Education, Working Experience and Knowledge:
At least 5 years of experience in relevant testing roles, including proven experience as a Senior Tester or Test Lead.
Knowledge of the banking and payment card transactions processing sector is an advantage.
Experience with test automation, particularly with Robot Framework and Python is an advantage.
Experience with IBM i, system commands, and SQL DB2 is an advantage.
Ability to define, review and govern test case standards, testing rules, and quality criteria.
Hands-on experience with software development and documentation is an advantage, as is experience in leading or mentoring testers.
