Description
11 bit studios is looking for a Senior Technical Artist to join the Frostpunk 1886 team. In this role, you will help create high-quality materials, shaders, and technical art solutions while supporting artists and programmers throughout production.
You will be responsible for developing tools, maintaining workflows, optimizing assets, and ensuring technical quality across the project. The role combines artistic sensibility with strong Unreal Engine 5 technical expertise and close collaboration with multiple disciplines.
Responsibilities
Create high-quality materials and shaders in Unreal Engine 5
Develop and maintain Blueprint-based and code-based tools for the art team
Create and update technical documentation covering tools, workflows, and engine limitations
Support optimization, profiling, and debugging efforts in the final product
Collaborate with Art Leads, Technical Directors, programmers, and QA teams
Ensure assets comply with technical requirements and production standards
Improve technical workflows and support content creators throughout development
Required Skills
Strong knowledge of Unreal Engine materials and shading workflows
Solid understanding of the Unreal Engine 5 rendering pipeline
Knowledge of physically based rendering and post-processing workflows
Experience using Unreal Engine Blueprints for tools or gameplay-supporting systems
Strong problem-solving skills and practical technical mindset
Experience with optimization and performance analysis
Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams
Strong communication and documentation skills
For Senior level, experience shipping at least one commercial title or completed commercial project
Nice to Have
Knowledge of VFX workflows
Experience with lighting pipelines
Experience using procedural tools such as Substance Designer
Familiarity with HLSL, GLSL, or other shader programming languages
Experience with Blender, 3ds Max, or Maya
Experience collaborating closely with both artists and programmers
Portfolio demonstrating technical art contributions
