Requirements
We are now expanding our commercial presence into mainland China, and you’ll be the first salesperson on the ground.
Mission:
You will serve as Sleek’s foundational, end-to-end commercial leader in mainland China, tasked with going direct to market to capture mainland-based founders looking to incorporate offshore. You will own the entire sales motion from the first conversation through to a closed customer, establishing our on-ground presence in the Greater Bay Area and progressively building the regional commercial team as traction scales.
Outcomes:
Outcome 1 : Establish Sales Pipeline & Hit Targets. Own the full sales cycle end-to-end for mainland China prospects, serving as the single trusted point of contact with no handoff to Hong Kong. Successfully hit your ramping monthly revenue target while self-sourcing pipeline through network, outbound execution, and warm referrals.
Outcome 2 : Bridge Marketing & Operations. Collaborate closely with the marketing function and external partners to develop a mainland China demand-gen engine. Provide tight feedback loops regarding ICP, lead quality, competitor moves, and local pricing dynamics, while partnering with Hong Kong operations and Customer Success for seamless post-sale handoffs.
Outcome 3 : Optimize Local Product Positioning. Provide localized input on the China-facing website, content, and product positioning. Successfully adapt onboarding materials and sales collateral to perfectly match the decision drivers and objections of mainland China prospects.
Outcome 4 : Build and Scale the Mainland Team. As the business proves out, transition into team building by recruiting, training, and managing additional sales representatives. Expand commercial coverage into northern inland prospect clusters (such as Beijing and Shanghai) and fully own the scaling China sales playbook.
Must-Have Experience
Professional Background: 5+ years of B2B sales experience with a documented track record at a high-bar firm where long tenure signals exceptional resilience and execution (e.g., Alibaba, Tencent, ByteDance, or a comparable blue-chip tech, fintech, or cross-border business).
Track Record: Experienced selling into mainland Chinese SMEs and founders operating in cross-border contexts, backed by clear full-cycle closed/won evidence. Experience in adjacent fields like cross-border logistics, FX/payments, e-commerce enablement, corporate services, fintech, or B2B SaaS is highly valued.
Geographic & Travel Capability: Must be currently based or willing to relocate prior to start date to a Greater Bay Area city within ~1.5 hours by high-speed train from Hong Kong (Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Zhuhai, Foshan, or Dongguan). Open to frequent travel to Hong Kong and occasional travel within mainland China.
Linguistic Skills: Native Mandarin fluency and fluent in English, demonstrating the ability to drive clear, confident, and professional written and spoken conversations with a Hong Kong and global team.
Domain Knowledge: Strong strategic understanding of why mainland founders incorporate in Hong Kong, the offshore structure landscape, and the typical objections/decision drivers of this buyer segment.
Advantageous Skills
Direct experience working within ecosystems serving mainland-based cross-border SMEs (e.g., PingPong, X-Transfer, WorldFirst, Payoneer, Shopify, Amazon).
Fintech or banking exposure with specific mainland China commercial coverage (e.g., Airwallex, Aspire, WeBank, OneConnect).
An existing, active network of mainland-based entrepreneurs, accountants, lawyers, or business consultants.
Behavioural fit is also important at Sleek, and we will be looking for candidates that have a proven track record of embodying the below attributes in their recent roles:
Ownership: This shows reliability and helps build trust within the team. We move fast and need to know that everyone will see things through to completion and proactively help to get things back on track when challenges arise. Accountability is really important to us.
Humility: There is so much we don’t know. Humility allows for open-mindedness to feedback and a willingness to learn from others. It paves the way for collaboration and creates a positive work environment. It is a key ingredient of self awareness and emotional intelligence.
Structured thinking: Our business is complex with many layers (many services, many countries, many cultures). Regardless of whether you’re more analytical or creative in nature, being able to show sound judgement is important to us. It ensures solutions are pragmatic and balance the needs of the organisation, team and customers.
A great listener: Our prospects need to feel heard and understood by you. You will present in a kind, calm, warm, attentive manner - working cooperatively to help solve the needs of our potential customers and never interrupting them.
Data driven: We are a data rich business with ~15,000 small customers. Each decision we make can impact many more people than we realise - so it’s critical that we use sound data to support our strategies and review the success of our initiatives.
Can have tough conversations in a positive way: It’s not a matter of if, but when difficult interpersonal situations arise. Disagreement, conflict and disappointment are a given in a fast moving business where people care about their work. People that proactively have tough conversations with kindness build empathy, trust and great working relationships.
