About the Company and Role
We are hiring a Senior Backend Developer for our client, an international fintech company building a proprietary trading engine from the ground up.
The engineering team is developing the core backend infrastructure behind the trading engine, covering everything from order execution and position management to distributed services and inter-service communication.
This is a hands-on engineering role focused on building new functionality rather than maintaining existing systems. You'll work on business-critical infrastructure, contribute to architectural decisions, and take ownership of the services you build.
We're looking for an engineer who enjoys solving complex technical problems, challenges assumptions, and cares about delivering reliable, high-quality software. In trading systems, correctness is just as important as performance, making attention to detail and thoughtful engineering essential.
Tech Stack: Go (primary, migration in progress), Python, PostgreSQL, Redis, NATS (JetStream, request-reply, pub-sub), Docker, AWS (ECS), CI/CD.
Location: Dubai, UAE (full-time, office-based).
We are offering:
Highly competitive compensation that reflects your expertise and impact;
Opportunity to build the core infrastructure of a proprietary trading engine from the ground up;
High level of ownership with direct influence on technical decisions;
Small, senior engineering team where ideas move quickly into production;
Startup environment with minimal bureaucracy and meaningful technical challenges.
Interview Process:
HR Screening (30–40 minutes);
Technical Interview;
Assignment;
Culture Fit (with in-house HR and CTO);
Job Offer.
What kind of qualifications we are looking for:
7+ years of backend development experience;
Strong proficiency in Go or another systems programming language such as C/C++ or Rust, and confidence working with Python in production environments;
Willingness to work primarily with Go as the backend migration progresses;
Strong understanding of concurrent programming, networking, and system-level performance;
Experience building and operating backend services in production;
Experience developing trading platforms, OMS, execution engines, or similar financial infrastructure;
Understanding of the order lifecycle, position management, margin calculation, and market data processing;
Experience with event-driven architectures and message brokers such as NATS, Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar;
Strong understanding of distributed systems concepts, including eventual consistency, idempotency, and delivery guarantees;
Solid PostgreSQL experience (schema design, query optimization, transactions, migrations);
Experience with Redis for caching, pub/sub, or real-time data;
Experience with Docker and containerized deployments;
English B2 (confident communication with international teams).
Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and optimize backend services for the trading server, including order lifecycle, execution, position management, margin calculation, and risk controls;
Build and maintain microservices communicating through NATS with a focus on reliability and low latency;
Work with PostgreSQL for transactional data, optimize database performance, and use Redis for caching and real-time state management;
Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks across backend services and PostgreSQL, optimizing latency-critical paths as the platform scales;
Participate in migrating existing backend services from Python to Go;
Design data models and service contracts while ensuring high technical quality;
Collaborate with engineers on architecture decisions, code reviews, and production incident resolution;
Implement logging, monitoring, and observability across backend services;
Write unit tests and collaborate with QA engineers on integration and end-to-end testing.
Nice to have Requirements:
Experience with MetaTrader 5 internals, MQL5, or MT5 plugins/bridges;
Experience with AWS services beyond ECS (such as S3);
Experience building low-latency or high-frequency trading systems;
Knowledge of FIX protocol implementation (QuickFIX or similar);
Experience with performance profiling and optimization of latency-sensitive systems;
Experience with load testing and capacity planning;
Experience with WebSocket or real-time data streaming;
Previous experience in proprietary trading, funded trader platforms, or crypto exchange infrastructure.
Build technology where performance is critical, engineering decisions matter, and your work directly shapes the product.
