Description
Bloober Team is looking for a Senior AI Gameplay Programmer to join the development of its next generation of horror games. This role is focused on creating advanced AI systems, combat mechanics, and gameplay features that support immersive and memorable player experiences.
You will collaborate closely with combat designers, animators, technical artists, and other programmers to build intelligent AI agents, develop combat systems, and create tools that empower content creators throughout production.
Responsibilities
Design, document, and implement AI systems for behaviors, navigation, perception, and animation
Develop AI agents with diverse behavior sets and scripted sequences
Create combat systems from scratch and maintain existing gameplay systems
Design scalable AI architectures and gameplay frameworks
Collaborate with combat designers, animators, and technical artists on new features
Develop tools and workflows that support designers and gameplay teams
Optimize AI performance and maintain code quality standards
Contribute to technical discussions and gameplay system evolution
Required Skills
Excellent knowledge of Unreal Engine and its built-in AI systems
Advanced C++ programming skills
Strong understanding of AI architectures, techniques, and best practices
Experience designing code architecture for AI-related systems
Experience developing AI agents and combat behaviors
Knowledge of navigation, perception, and behavior systems
Strong understanding of gameplay programming principles
Excellent teamwork and communication skills
Professional English communication skills
Experience working on commercial game development projects
Nice to Have
Experience with Gameplay Ability System
Experience with Utility AI, GOAP, or alternative AI architectures
Experience with Behavior Trees and State Machines
Experience working with Animation Blueprints
Experience creating tools and editor utilities
Passion for horror games, films, and literature
Experience developing AI systems for action or combat-focused games
