About the Company and Role
We are looking for a Risk Officer to join the company and further develop its risk management function as the business continues to grow.
Our client is a private financial company operating in the brokerage and financial markets domain. The company is building its own brokerage ecosystem and places strong emphasis on transparent risk management, regulatory compliance, and data-driven decision-making.
This is a hands-on expert role rather than a people management position. You'll assess and monitor key business risks, prepare regulatory and management reporting, develop and maintain risk metrics, and contribute to the continuous improvement of the company's risk management framework.
We're looking for an experienced risk professional who enjoys working independently, making well-reasoned decisions, and improving established processes.
Location: Almaty, Kazakhstan (full-time, office-based).

Interview Process:
HR Screening (30–40 minutes);
Online interview with the Risk Officer (the CEO and CFO may also join);

What kind of qualifications we are looking for:
3–5+ years of experience in risk management, compliance, or a related function within a financial organization;
Higher education in Finance, Economics, Risk Management, Law, or a related field;
Strong understanding of market and credit risk management principles, including exposure to investment portfolios or securities;
Hands-on experience assessing market and credit risks, including developing or maintaining risk metrics;
Experience preparing regulatory and management risk reporting;
Understanding of IFRS 9 (ECL provisioning), prudential reporting, and risk metrics such as VaR;
Experience monitoring regulatory requirements (AFSA/AIFC) and assessing their impact on business processes;
Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail;
Ability to work independently, make well-reasoned decisions, and continuously improve existing processes;
English at a level sufficient to work with regulatory documentation and professional materials.
Responsibilities:
Prepare and submit regulatory risk reports in accordance with AFSA requirements;
Prepare internal management reporting on the company's risk profile;
Assess, measure, and monitor market, credit, operational, and liquidity risks;
Develop and maintain risk metrics, monitoring approaches, and internal risk management processes;
Monitor risk limits, risk appetite, and escalate significant deviations when necessary;
Monitor changes in AFSA and AIFC regulations and assess their impact on the company's activities;
Participate in developing and updating the company's Risk Management Policy and related documentation;
Collaborate with auditors and regulatory authorities on matters related to the risk management function.
