Position Overview:
The Project Planning Expert is responsible for developing, maintaining, and monitoring project schedules. This role supports the successful execution of large-scale projects by coordinating schedules across internal teams, external partners, suppliers, and project stakeholders. As a key member of the project execution team, this position serves as the central planning resource for complex power generation projects, ensuring schedule alignment, visibility, and proactive risk management throughout the project lifecycle.
This position will be based in Houston, TX – hybrid work schedule.
Responsibilities:
Create, maintain, and monitor detailed project schedules for gas engine, power plant, and large-scale project execution
Develop and manage schedules using Primavera, including project timelines, dependencies, milestones, critical path activities, and schedule updates
Coordinate and align project schedules with internal departments, external partners, suppliers, and other project stakeholders
Support project management in meeting project milestones, delivery timelines, and customer commitments
Identify scheduling risks, delays, and potential impacts, and support the development of mitigation or recovery plans
Report and present project progress, schedule deviations, and key risks to management and project stakeholders
Support cross-functional coordination of technical and commercial project execution activities
Partner with project teams to ensure schedule alignment across engineering, supply chain, manufacturing, field services, and customer-facing activities
Support continuous improvement of the Project Management process and tools based on KPIs such as revenue, contribution margin, customer satisfaction, complete and on-time delivery, finished goods inventory, and collections
Support know-how transfer and training programs for distributors and key accounts to align project execution processes with INNIO Jenbacher Project Management standards
Contribute to customer alignment and simplification initiatives to support effective, high-quality order execution
Perform other related duties as assigned to assist with successful operations and business continuity
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Business, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
Professional experience in project scheduling, project planning, or project management
Experience supporting large projects, construction site environments, industrial projects, or complex project execution
Experience in power generation, energy, gas engines, EPC, construction, industrial equipment, or related industries is preferred
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Teams)
Experience with Primavera P6
Experience working in global, matrixed organizations
Willingness to travel up to 20% domestically and internationally as business demands
Valid driver’s license and valid passport
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Strong knowledge of Primavera and project scheduling principles, with the ability to develop, maintain, and analyze complex project schedules
Ability to identify schedule risks, evaluate project impacts, and support mitigation and recovery planning
Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with a structured and detail-oriented approach
Effective communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate across internal and external partners
Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a cross-functional, global team environment
Proactive mindset with the ability to identify gaps and contribute to process improvements
Ability to work effectively in both office and field environments, including customer sites, industrial facilities, power plants, and construction sites
Ability to speak, hear, read, write, and view information necessary to perform the essential functions of the role
