Описание вакансии
Our mission at Booking.com is to create transformative, innovative, and personalized travel experiences for millions of customers all across the world. We want customers to have an amazing experience wherever and whenever they choose: mobile, web, and through partners and 3rd parties.
The Cloud Ecosystems group builds, operates and enables use of private and public cloud infrastructure within Booking.com. Compute capabilities are provided on platform instances that are privately owned and centrally managed by Booking.com. These platform instances, and the workloads running on them, are hosted both in Booking datacenters (“on-premises”) and on public cloud infrastructure (AWS and GCP).
The Cloud Ecosystems team in Bangalore is responsible for shaping the future of our internal cloud platforms by improving the security, governance, reliability and developer experience of our cloud environments. As a Senior Platform Engineer I, you will design, build, and maintain internal platforms to provide developers with self-service tools and automation for deploying and running software efficiently and reliably. We code our way out of problems where operations are concerned, addressing availability, scalability, latency, and efficiency challenges within our vast infrastructure.
Due to the rapid and continuous growth of the organization, the tasks and duties of this role may evolve over time. You will be keen to develop and grow within the role and to take on additional challenges and responsibilities as they occur.
B.Responsible:
Platform Design & Architecture – Design, develop, and implement scalable GCP platform foundations that improve security, governance, and developer experience.
Landing Zone Evolution – Build and evolve the GCP landing zone including project structures, IAM models, networking standards, and organization policies.
Developer Experience (DevEx) – Deliver a fully integrated, end-to-end developer-focused platform experience that makes common cloud use cases simple, secure, and self-service.
Automation & Provisioning – Build centralized infrastructure provisioning workflows and ensure an “everything as code” mindset across the infrastructure pipeline.
Security & Guardrails – Define secure default configurations and preventative guardrails for GCP services. Embed security, governance, and compliance controls directly into pipelines through automation.
Identity & Access Management – Improve IAM practices across the cloud ecosystem, including least privilege access and strong authentication controls.
Lifecycle & Change Management – Define project lifecycle management practices (ownership, reviews, and cleanup automation) and replace manual configurations with automated pipelines.
Observability & Reliability – Improve observability, logging, and operational readiness of GCP environments. Build monitoring and alerting to supervise platform health and embed resilience directly into the platform lifecycle.
Incident Management & Escalation – Share the on-call rotation, support incident response when needed, and act as an escalation contact for platform incidents.
Collaboration & Community – Partner with security teams to improve threat detection context, collaborate with SREs/SWEs globally, advocate for engineering standard processes, and contribute to Booking.com's growth through interviewing and onboarding.
B.Skilled:
Experience – 5–8 years of hands-on experience in software, platform, or site reliability engineering within the technology sector, with expertise in building, operating, and maintaining sophisticated, scalable systems.
Programming Languages – Solid experience in at least one programming language (we predominantly use Go, Python, Java, Ruby, or Perl).
Infrastructure as Code (IaC) – Proven expertise with Infrastructure as Code technologies (e.g., Terraform).
Cloud Architecture – Deep knowledge of cloud computing fundamentals; experience developing cloud landing zones, especially within Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or AWS, is highly desirable.
Observability Stack – Familiarity with supervising and observability technologies like Prometheus, Graphite, Grafana, Kibana, or Elasticsearch is a strong plus.
Service Delivery Fundamentals – Strong understanding of Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and Service Level Objectives (SLOs).
Soft Skills & Communication – Excellent interpersonal skills with a proficient command of the English language (both written and spoken). Ability to communicate complex technical concepts effectively to various stakeholders.
Mindset – A creative problem-solver who thrives on solving exciting problems at scale across tens of thousands of servers, with a strong self-starter and "everything as code" mindset.
