Who We're Looking For
The Fraud Detection & Messaging Compliance Specialist is responsible for daily monitoring, investigation, and documentation of suspicious A2P/10DLC messaging traffic that is flagged by Syniverse long code SPAM filters and cluster-based analytics. This role serves as an additional layer of fraud prevention to protect carrier partners & enterprise customer by ensuring only “clean” traffic is delivered, while proactively identifying customer-side bad actors, confirming campaign registration, assessing fraud vs. campaign drift, and coordinating campaign suspensions and reinstatements with clear, compliant communications and tracking.
The specialist will work closely with internal teams and customers to optimize detection strategies while adhering to strict data privacy and reporting protocols. Where skills allow, leverage technical aptitude to run REST API calls (e.g., via Postman) and sanctioned API queries, trigger approved/pre-defined workflows and jobs, prototype simple no-/low-code demos, and collaborate with internal teams to test and document API results—applying structured, technical problem-solving to Professional Services solutions.-

Key Responsibilities
Daily monitoring & analysis
Pull and review daily reports of messaging traffic flagged by SPAM filters.Analyze message samples, clusters, origin senders, campaign IDs, and category types (e.g., Fraud/SPAM).Execute keyword-based scanning using several pre-defined keywords; recommend/coordinate keyword updates internally.
Campaign validation & enforcement
Determine whether a sender/long code is associated with a registered messaging (10dlc) campaignIn internal UI campaign management tool, compare observed traffic to registered brand/use case to determine fraud vs. campaign drift.If fraud/drift is identified, suspend campaigns using defined reason format.
Reporting, tracking, and documentation
Ensure reporting includes required sample messages while adhering to strict rules on data sharing.Aggregate Friday–Sunday data on Mondays; roll holiday reporting to the next working day
Stakeholder and customer communications
Distribute reports to pre-defined recipients, including notification when no traffic is tagged.Notify the customer of findings by end of day using established distribution lists and required subject/attachment conventions (e.g., attach RCA template/location as applicable).Liaise with customers to collect feedback on missed events and submit for potential filter improvements (with understanding that Syniverse retains discretion on response actions).
Audit and RCA management
Receive and process audit reports from carriers/carrier partners; submit findings to customers promptly.Request, collect, and review customer Root Cause Analyses (RCAs) for completeness and effectiveness.If RCA is sufficient, lift suspensions in UI campaign management tool and/or other UIs with required notation and coordinate downstream suspension removal with partners as needed.Maintain thorough documentation of audit communications and RCA handling in alignment with compliance requirements.
Experience, Education, and Certifications:
5+ years of experience in fraud detection, compliance, messaging security operations, or similar investigations/operational roles.Bachelor's degree in relevant areaProficient in Microsoft ExcelFamiliarity with A2P messaging, 10DLC campaign concepts, and interpreting message samples/clusters (preferred).
Additional Requirements:
Excellent written communication skills, including ability to deliver clear, compliant, time-bound notifications to customers and internal stakeholders. Comfort working with monitoring/reporting tools and performing repeatable, high-accuracy operational workflows.Detail-oriented, organized, and able to meet strict daily deadlines (including weekend/holiday aggregation rules). Demonstrated commitment to confidentiality, privacy, and data protection best practices; able to follow strict “minimum necessary” sharing protocols. Familiarity with machine learning-driven detection and SPAM/fraud categorization (preferred).Familiarity with Rest APIs and how to execute inside an application.#LI-Hybrid
