This role provides a hybrid way of working with an onsite presence of 2 days/week.
Role description
Booking Holdings is looking for a highly motivated and experienced compliance investigator to join our Global Investigation Services team (the “Team”).
The Team is responsible for the intake, assessment, investigation, and management of all compliance concerns raised across the company and for driving the speak up culture in close coordination with Legal and Compliance colleagues.
As a Compliance Investigations Manager, you will handle a diverse docket of compliance matters and play a critical role in assessing concerns, initiating and managing investigations from end-to-end, as well as working closely with colleagues in Legal, HR, and the business to drive the speak-up culture and ensure concern resolution, appropriate accountability, and continuous improvement in our investigation program.
This role is part of a global Compliance & Ethics organization, comprising colleagues across multiple geographies and time zones. As such, it demands a dynamic and seasoned individual who has both strong subject matter expertise and interpersonal skills. This role reports to Manager, Legal & Compliance at Booking Holdings Romania and Booking Holdings’ VP, Investigations.
Key Job Responsibilities and Duties
The Compliance Investigations Manager, GIS (the “Role”) will manage a diverse docket of compliance investigations and matters.
The Role requires mature assessment capabilities, including the ability to successfully manage complex matters with limited supervision, while still delivering on time, positively managing stakeholders, and meaningfully contributing to positive team and organization functioning. The Role requires an energetic, teamcentric, “can do” attitude.
The Role will be responsible for reviewing and preliminarily assessing concerns and determining whether a formal investigation is required.
If a formal investigation is not required, the Role will be responsible for properly closing out the matter (including with concern raisers and other stakeholders), properly documenting the reasoning and steps taken, as well as properly referring the matter, if required, to ensure it is addressed.
If formal investigation is required, the Role will be responsible for developing an investigation plan, keeping GIS management and other stakeholders apprised of progress, and conducting necessary fact finding, which may
include interviews, data collection, and coordination with multiple teams.
The Role will also be responsible for creating complete and accurate investigation reports, facilitating disciplinary sessions, and documenting results in the case management tool.
The Role will work on special projects as designated by the VP, Investigations from time to time, including policy and investigation process development and improvement and proactive review of targeted risk areas
The Role will also be responsible for building and maintaining effective relationships with stakeholders across Booking Holdings and our brands, as well as outside counsel and other third parties.
Role Qualifications and Requirements
Ideal candidate will have both private practice and in-house experience with compliance investigations
Bachelor’s Degree required; J.D. degree or equivalent preferred.
Extensive experience in investigating internal fraud and other Code of Conduct matters across large multinationals
Experience investigating complex compliance concerns in a matrixed and cross-jurisdictional environment
Experience implementing company-wide investigation best-practices, including relating to intake of concerns, communications with concern raisers, conducting interviews, and drafting investigation reports
Experience working with diverse and global team
Acts with highest levels of integrity at all times
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including strong presentations skills and demonstrated ability to be clear and concise when communicating with global stakeholders
Proven success communicating effectively with stakeholders globally.
