Role Overview:
The AV R&D Engineer researches emerging media technologies and develops innovative solutions to enhance broadcast quality, efficiency, and scalability. They bridge theory and real-world deployment - turning ideas into working systems.
The position plays a critical role in maintaining technological competitiveness by delivering scalable, production-ready solutions for live studio and broadcast environments, including emerging domains such as AI-driven media, real-time rendering, and immersive content.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Research & Innovation
Investigate new audio/video technologies, tools, and broadcasting standard
Stay updated on trends like:
Ultra HD (4K/8K), HDR, Live Tracking, Motion Capture
IP-based broadcasting
AI in media processing (e.g., upscaling, noise reduction)
Analyze feasibility and potential impact on broadcast workflows
2. Prototyping & Development
Build proof-of-concept systems and experimental setups
Develop and test new workflows (e.g., cloud-based editing, remote production)
Write code/scripts for automation, processing, or integration
3. Audio-Video Processing
Work with:
Video codecs (H.264, H.265, AV1)
Audio formats and processing chains
Optimize compression, latency, synchronization, and quality
4. Testing & Validation
Design and execute technical tests for new systems
Evaluate performance (quality, latency, reliability)
Troubleshoot issues and refine solutions
5. System Integration
Integrate new technologies into existing broadcast infrastructure
Ensure compatibility with:
Cameras, mixers, servers, tracking devices, robots, video walls
Editing systems and playout systems, media engines
Support deployment into production environments
6. Collaboration
Work with:
AV Broadcast engineers
Studio Production teams
IT/Network Specialists
Translate operational needs into technical solutions
7. Documentation & Reporting
Document designs, test results, and workflows
Present findings and recommendations to management
Create technical guidelines for implementation
8. Continuous Improvement
Identify inefficiencies in current workflows
Suggest and implement enhancements
Support upgrades and modernization initiatives
Requirements:
5-10 years in R&D/engineering roles
Proven delivery of AV systems
Audio/video processing, streaming technologies
Familiarity with AI/ML in media
Bachelor’s degree in relevant field
