Accounts Payable Specialist (12 months contract)

As Shopify continues its global expansion and transaction volume grows, we're on the hunt for a detail-driven Accounts Payable Specialist to join our dynamic Finance team. If you're proactive, adaptable, and thrive in fast-paced environments, this role is calling your name.
Note: This is a 12 months contract position.
What You'll Do:
- Process accounts payable invoices with precision, ensuring details like amounts, GL allocations, currency, and subsidiary information are spot-on.
- Verify that all transactions align with the company’s delegation of authority and are properly supported.
- Manage daily payment proposals across various entities, bank accounts, and currencies.
- Dive into ad-hoc projects with Controllership, Tax, and FP&A teams.
- Aid in internal and external audits by pulling samples and addressing inquiries.
- Collaborate seamlessly with cross-functional teams like Treasury and Procurement.
- Address vendor and employee inquiries with speed and clarity.
- Prepare and analyze AP statistics and key performance indicators (KPIs).
What You'll Bring:
- Diploma in Accounting.
- 3+ years of experience in accounts payable or a related finance role.
- Solid understanding of accounting concepts, including accruals and month-end processes.
- Ability to work independently with a focus on accuracy and speed.
- Stellar attention to detail and task prioritization in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration.
- Willingness to go the extra mile to prevent errors.
- Familiarity with global payment rails and tax regulations (e.g., 1099 filing, VAT, HST).
Bonus Points:
- Experience with P2P systems like Zip or Coupa.
- Familiarity with Modern Treasury or any TMS.
- Experience with ERP systems such as Netsuite, SAP, or Oracle.
- Proficiency in Big Query and KPI reporting.
- Experience with Claude & AI tools.
